Lima, May 27 (ANDINA).
Peru’s President Ollanta Humala launched Monday the Cable Car Program,
which is aimed at promoting tourism and integration in Peruvian regions.
The program seeks to build a cable car in each region in order to integrate communities and promote trade.
"The
idea is to work two concepts: integration and tourism,” Humala said.
“Many communities have that problem of getting their produce off the
field.”
The President said that it is necessary
to "face the challenge imposed on us by nature," and cable cars are one
of the most viable means to this end.
"The
goal is to have a cable in each region, so we intend to work with
regional governments and mayors to see where (cable cars) are needed and
we’ll do it.”
